Why Skyrock

BUILT FOR
SITES THAT
DEMAND MORE

The job sites our clients work on — wine country estates, zero-emission mandated projects, premium residential construction — operate under constraints that traditional diesel equipment can't meet. Noise ordinances. Air quality rules. Neighbors with lawyers. Winery owners who'll pull a contract over a complaint.

We built SkyRock around two machines that change that equation.

01

Quiet Enough to Have a Conversation

Our machines run nearly silent — no constant engine noise. Your operator can communicate with ground crew while the machine is running, without stopping work or removing hearing protection. Fewer misunderstandings. Faster coordination. And no noise complaints from owners, tasting room guests, or homeowners next door.

02

No CARB Headaches

California's off-road equipment regulations are tightening every year. Both machines produce zero emissions at the point of use. Both are registered in the CARB DOORS system. No BAR inspections. No compliance risk on public contracts or sensitive sites.

03

Dramatically Lower Fuel Costs

Our machines charge from standard electrical outlets overnight. No fuel cards, no delivery, no price spikes. The savings are substantial on any project running more than a few weeks — electricity costs a fraction of what diesel will run you.

04

Safe for Enclosed Spaces & Indoors

Zero exhaust means these machines can operate in wine caves, indoors, underground utility work, and any confined environment where diesel creates serious air quality and safety concerns. No ventilation surcharges. No stopping work. No liability from running a combustion engine underground.

JCB E-Tech

19C-1E

Electric Mini Excavator · Enclosed Cab

A fully hydraulic mini excavator — the electric motor drives the hydraulic pump, so operation is identical to any diesel JCB your operators already know. Same controls, same feel, same breakout force. The only differences: it's nearly silent, there's no warm-up time, and it charges from a standard 120V household outlet overnight. No specialty infrastructure needed.

Standard Charging

120V · 240V Compatible

Both machines come with portable chargers. The JCB plugs into a standard 120V household outlet. The Case can charge off any 240V plug. No specialty infrastructure required to get started.

🔋

Runtime

Full Shift Capable

Charge overnight, work all day. Both machines are designed for a full 8-hour shift on a single charge — roughly equivalent to a tank of diesel.

🔧

Power

No Loss of Power

Both machines have equal capacity to their diesel counterparts, no throttling the engine up or down, and full power at all RPMs.

Who We Work With

01

Vineyard Contractors

Terracing, drainage, access road work, and new planting preparation on estates where noise and emissions impact the operation and the neighbors. Both machines work at full power without disrupting active tasting or customer operations.

02

Zero-Emission Mandated Projects

Public contracts, municipal projects, and CARB-regulated job sites increasingly require zero-emission equipment. Both machines are fully compliant — no BAR inspections, no emissions risk, no costly retrofits or last-minute equipment swaps to keep your bid alive.

03

Premium Residential & Winery Construction

High-end clients in Napa and Sonoma County expect their contractors to operate without disruption. Electric equipment is increasingly specified by owners and architects on luxury builds — and helps your bid stand out.

04

Utilities & Public Works

Private utility companies and municipal public works departments face increasing zero-emission equipment requirements. The Case 580EV is a direct diesel backhoe replacement that satisfies CARB compliance and fleet sustainability mandates without any compromise on performance — and our rental pricing means no large capital outlays.

Case 580EV

The Case for Electric

YOUR EDGE ON
SENSITIVE SITES

Contractors who show up with electric equipment don't just avoid complaints — they close bids that diesel operators can't touch. Wine country clients, architects, and municipalities are increasingly requiring or preferring zero-emission equipment. Being ahead of that curve is a competitive advantage today and a necessity tomorrow.

Our pricing is structured to match diesel rental rates. You get the quiet operation, the CARB compliance, and the lower fuel costs — without paying a premium for electric.

The Numbers

Diesel fuel for a full-size backhoe can run $60–100 per day. Our machines charge from standard electrical outlets at a small fraction of that cost. Over a month of consistent use, the fuel savings alone could be in the thousands — and both machines charge off outlets you likely already have access to.

Common Questions

STRAIGHT
ANSWERS

Everything contractors ask before their first rental. We'd rather answer these upfront than waste your time on a call.

Both machines come with portable chargers. The JCB 19C-1E plugs into a standard 120V household outlet — no special equipment needed. Overnight charging covers a full day of work. The Case 580EV uses a standard EV connection, and comes with with a charger that can plug into any standard 240V outlet. We're happy to do a pre-rental charging walkthrough to identify the simplest solution for your site. Both machines can also charge from a generator or temporary power service on sites without permanent power.

Yes. Both machines are designed for a full 8-hour shift on a single charge. Think of it like a tank of diesel — charge overnight, work all day. Runtime will vary with workload intensity, just as diesel burns faster under heavy continuous load, but for the excavation, grading, and site prep work our customers actually do, one charge covers one shift. And no fuel burn for idling equipment.

No. Both machines are engineered to operate identically to their diesel counterparts — same controls, same feel, same hydraulic workflow. The electric motor drives the hydraulic pump, so everything the operator touches works exactly like a diesel. The only differences they'll notice: it's quieter, and there's no warm-up time. No retraining, no adjustment period, no lost productivity on day one.

Electric excels at the kind of work most contractors in this region actually do: excavation, grading, drainage, backfill, material handling, and site prep on projects that run in single shifts. Vineyard development, residential construction, utility work, cave excavation, and CARB-mandated job sites are all ideal fits.

Where diesel still has the edge is sustained heavy earthmoving — large cut-and-fill operations running multiple shifts per day where the machine never stops long enough to recharge. We're straightforward about that. If your job fits that profile, electric may not be the right tool. But for the broad middle of the market — contractors who need reliable, quiet, compliant machines for day-in, day-out work — electric isn't just adequate, it's the better choice.

Yes — and this is one of its best use cases. The JCB 19C-1E was designed for underground and enclosed-space work. Zero exhaust means no ventilation surcharge, no air monitoring requirement, and no work stoppages for air quality. At approximately 8' tall with tracks that retract to just 36" wide, it fits standard wine cave portal dimensions. The Case 580EV handles all surface portal and spoil work above grade.

New customers can do a one-time one-week intro rental to get familiar with the equipment before committing. After that, our standard minimum is four weeks (one month). We prefer — and can offer better rates on — extended terms of 3–12 months. Lease-to-own is also available for contractors ready to add electric equipment to their own fleet. Pricing is structured to match diesel rental rates; you're not paying a premium for electric.
